Head to Knee Forward Bend, also called Janu Sirsasana, is an excellent asymmetrical yoga pose, which re-energizes the body, and effectively treats the problem of varicose veins. The Head to Knee Pose helps the blood which stagnates behind the legs to move unhindered. This particular yoga posture can be easily performed by people with different flexibility levels. Sit on the floor with your legs stretched out in front of you. Keep your spine straight and bend your left leg. Press the left foot against the inner, upper corner of the right thigh. Ensure that right leg remains straight. With a deep exhalation, bend the body forward till your fingers can touch the big toe of the right leg. Stretch the trunk forward till your forehead touches the right shinbone.  Hold pose for 15 to 20 seconds. Release pose and repeat on other side.

Palm Tree Pose

Palm Tree Pose or Tadasana, which is the basis for all other standing yoga postures, is extremely helpful in treating the problem of varicose veins. The pressure that is exerted on legs, in palm tree pose, helps to pump the venous blood which pools behind the knees. Start by standing tall with the feet, knees and thighs together. Ensure that the body weight is evenly distributed on both the feet. Tighten kneecaps, press the thighs back and keep the spine erect. Hold this pose for at least two minutes.

Boat Pose which is called Naukasana in Sanskrit language is yet another highly effective yoga posture that helps to combat varicose veins. Naukasana helps to strengthen, correct and restore damaged veins efficiently.  Lie on your back. Place your palms flat on the yoga mat. With a deep inhalation lift your legs and arms simultaneously off the floor. Ensure that the finger is in line with the toes. The buttocks should take the entire weight of the body. Hold this pose for ten to fifteen seconds. Exhale deeply and release the pose.

Diamond Pose

Diamond Pose or thunderbolt pose, is an extremely simple, yet highly effective yoga posture which helps to ease the problem of varicose veins. Performing Diamond Pose or Vajrasana is highly beneficial in minimizing the symptoms of varicose veins. Kneel on the floor. Allow the buttocks to rest comfortably on the heels. Place the hands on the knees, palms facing downwards. Lengthen your spine and open up the chest cavity. Keep your neck and head straight. Hold this pose for 30 to 45 seconds. Ideally, you should practice this pose twice a day.

Diamond Pose

Bow Pose

Bow pose or Dhanurasana is so called because the body takes on the shape of a bow. This simple yoga posture improves blood circulation and thereby effectively treats the problem of varicose veins. Lie on your stomach. Place your hands beside your body,  palms facing the ceiling. Bend your knees. With a deep inhalation grasp your ankles with your hands. Now lift your chest off the floor. Tilt your head back and look up at the ceiling. The entire weight of the body should rest on the abdomen. Hold the pose for 30-45 seconds. With a deep exhalation release the pose.

Locust Pose

Locust Pose or Salabhasana can seem a challenging pose for beginners. However, this pose is highly effective in releasing venous blood from the legs. This particular pose is also beneficial in improving overall blood circulation. Lie on your stomach. The forehead should touch the yoga mat. Place your arms alongside your torso (palms facing the ceiling). Spread your legs, hip width apart. With a deep inhalation lift your head, chest, arms and legs off the floor. Try to lift the thighs off the floor, as much as you can. Look straight ahead of you. The entire weight of the body should rest on your lower ribs, abdomen and pelvis. Hold this pose for ten to fifteen seconds.

Seated Forward Bend

This is probably one of the best yoga posture which helps to treat the painful problem of varicose veins. Seated Forward Bend pose also called Paschimottanasana if performed correctly can completely alleviate the problem of varicose veins. Sit comfortably on the yoga mat with your legs stretched in front of you. Press the heels, knees and thighs together. With a deep inhalation lift the arms high above the head. The arms should be in line with your ears. With an exhalation extend the trunk forward. Try to encircle the feet with your hands. Your forehead should touch your shins. Hold this pose for 30 to 45 seconds.
