Hives, medically known as urticarial are sudden outbreak of raised white or yellow itchy bumps (welts) on the skin’s surface surrounded by red inflamed area. They are caused by allergic reaction to certain foods, pollen, food additives, chemicals, infection, medication and insect bites and stings. Due to allergic reaction body releases a protein known as histamine which causes these itchy rashes. Hives can appear anywhere on the body.
